  • Acupuncture is great. You will benefit from it the most . When done with you 1 st session stay on tea n salads n you will be migraine free for at least 6 months to a year.

  • I love dry needling. It's done by a PT, they put the needle in the spot that is in pain or spasming. I haven't been able to go lately, due to loss of insurance. I highly recommend it.

Over a year ago, I started all natural plant based supplements from Plexus and I haven't had a migraine or cluster headache since I started the supplements. I'm not saying I'm cured by any means, but gut health plays a major role in all diseases.

It is in the same family but it has worked for me. I take Naproxen at onset and Imatrex pills for controlled migraines, and the shots for the more severe migraines with nausea and balance issues. I hope you feel better soon. I hope this might help

  • I am on Amitripolin now as well everyday an Feorecet help some but when I get a bad one it does nothing prayers

  • I have had more ER visits then I'd care to count and 2 admissions this year. Fortunately I have had a few ER drs multiple times and they get it. There are still a few that are trained to believe you are drug seeking... they tend to be the younger docs. Thank you to the drs. That listen to us and understand that the pain relieving meds IV can break the migraines faster then anything I've been prescribed at home.

  • Usually I get a cocktail of Dilaudid, Torodal, Benadryl, Haldol, and Reglan and that always works. I actually have everything but the haldol to take at home, but this time its just not working. And must know me and when they see that I'm prescribed the cocktail to take at home, they realize I'm not there for the drugs.

  • I have a similar combo dilaudid, zofran, benedryl. I have it at home too but get better relief IV if I'm in a 10 mode and have the complex stroke like episode.

  • My neurologist put me on Topamax and Depakote as a preventive they both made me so sick and feel really weird I couldn't even walk around I had to lay in bed all the time because they make me so sick so I had to stop taking those I was also put on propranolol it's a blood pressure pill I take 120 mg every night it hasn't caused any weight gain I've taken Cymbalta which I couldn't take it made me sick, sumatriptan. Made me sick and amitriptyline I took it gave me the restless leg syndrome so I couldn't take that either I just have a really hard time taking medicines my stomach don't tolerate anything I do take the propranolol for which is a blood pressure medicine and I take that every night before bed but it still doesn't keep my migraines B I still have them sometimes they last for 10 straight days people don't realize how debilitating migraines really are it's really a disability and nobody believes that but it's the absolute truth

The reason the surgery didn't provide a better success rate for me is because of all my different migraine types and the fact that they all feed off of each other.

  • I had my first round in December. I don't know about anyone else but the injections in my neck 24 hrs later were horrible. My neck was so weak. I felt like l needed a neck brace to support myself! I couldn't bend my end to write or clean anything without being in excruciating pain. It took 3-4 weeks for this to pass. All my neuro could say was my body needed to get used to the Botox!! Hopefully next time won't be so bad. I'm due for a second round in March. It didn't get rid of headaches or migraines as yet, just like everyone else here. But feeling hopeful it will work eventually

  • Thankyou all for your extremely helpful, kind comments, they have been much appreciated. I wish you all the best of luck with your treatments, Botox or other x x

  • I had something similar happen my first round! The second time I asked for 1/2 as many injections in my neck and shoulders and it felt SO much better! They can adjust the number and location of the injections according to what works for you, make sure you mention it!

  • Thank you. I am immune compromised and that is one of my concerns about the injections. I have a history of pneumonia. I also have a virus living in my central nervous system that already causes muscle weakness. We are considering the injections in my trap and levator muscles, because after years of trigger point, myofascial and dry needling therapy the conclusion is this is where my migraines are triggered. Anyway, the article would be great! Thanks!

  • My Dr wants me to go to ER. But says this isn't related to the botox????

  • I'm also immune compromised as they think I have MS (get the results on Monday) I had received the flu and pneumonia vaccination prior to starting Botox but when I did they hadn't found the brain lesions that I have. They stopped it after 2 rounds.

  • Yes I avoid alcohol because of my cluster headaches and a fatty liver, which they suspect is from long term use of Excedrin/acetaminophen products for my chronic migraines. And with high blood pressure (another inherited condition on top of migraines) I need my PCP's advice so as not to create more issues, especially kidney problems.

  • Xxxxxxx Yzzzzzz...zolmitriptan IS prescribed for CH. I'm on 480mg Verapamil...15 of melatonin but I can go up to 20. Boswellia has quieted inflammation pain by at least 75% which is huge. I crush suma pills and hydrocodone for quick help...I am NOT telling you to do that...lol. I have been doing it though. My attacks are lower level because of Verapamil...like 7-8 instead of over 10...so my abort routine is 3-4 mg shot+crushed pills in OJ+oxygen+capsaicin spray in the nose...kills it every time. On good days I can get away with 2-3 mg shot+oxygen+nasal spray. I hear zolmitriptan works well for some...it is labeled for CH specifically so your doc is incorrect. It happens a lot.

  • Thank you Jennifer Kohr. I will have to try some of your suggestions. I very much appreciate it :)

  • Thank you Robyn. I never realized how many people suffer from this. It is a good group!

  • I use many but the main ones I use for migraines are typically peppermint oil, Copaiba oil, and lavender oil . Sometimes I use frankincense and panaway. I use will try peppermint by itself first I'll put a couple drops in my hand then I'll put some on my temples, the back of my neck and rub into the back of my head. Then I'll put my hand over my face and take some deep breaths. You can put the oil on a cloth and inhale . Most people dilute peppermint oil but I apply mine neat. I'm holding a free online class about using essential oils and how to use them this Sunday .
