Where can I buy it?
Oooh, they get wicked when you mention tylenol Sherrilyn Wickham.... . So many people I run into have them, the pain is unbearable they said....this group is a godsend and i'm here for support to you guys as well.
Yes..its the pain, the smells, light, sound, heat, cold, nausea ..its all kinds of nastiness..
It is awesome that you are here to learn for your friends. I have actually lost friends because of my migraines. They assume I am lazy and just backing out of plans and use a migraine as an excuse. You are a true friend and they are lucky to have you!
Xxxxxxx Yzzzzzz if you ever need to talk I'm a inbox away. Wow they really should tell people if they did surgery or not
I have it. My doctor ask me get it check make sure had nothing to do with my migraines. They don't think it effects me at all.
Cardiologist or neurologist wondered? I guess I'm looking for the reason. And it scares me when my meds make my heart feel awful.
I do ny first round tomorrow. Im nervious
I love it. I had relief for around 3 months. I go in every 3 months, if you can handle a pinch that's what it feels like.
It didn't work for me. I had horrible side effects from the botox. Neck hurt so bad. Could not swallow right and had to hold my head up. I work out and couldn't use my shoulder muscles. Everything was paralyzed. Getting the shots was no problem. The side effects were awful for me. Over a year later and I still can't turn my neck from side to side without feeling pain. Just didn't work for me. It may be great for you. Hope it is.
It messes with your sleep and memory..like a brain fog thing. Its an all over body ache but amplified 1000% ..she has horrible days with it
YES it's exactly like that. I told me friend I felt like a had brain cloud or something. She thought I'd lost it. But the confusion, hurts when clothing touching your skin is so true. Mine hurt and was so dehydrated feeling that if I sat in it to soak 5 minutes later and my skin would have soaked it up, then ask for more. I sorry about your sister n law. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. But I'm glad Im not going crazy just thinking that this was happening. Thank you so much.
You're welcome! Hope you find relief soon!
Yes and like the past year i get slurred speech and when im talking my words i think are coming out in the right order but they will be all messed up and i am starting to be really confused when i have one. They are really scary. I really thought i had a brain tumor or stroke and i had to beg and beg him to do an mri
He told me to take an aspirin a day because i could have a stroke
I thought my main language was Spanish. It looks like I was wrong. !!!It's very difficult to talk in Spanish while on slurred speech, but English is perfect. !!!
Yes to a lot of these. I am always wearing sunglasses, even when it's cloudy. My husband says Im like a vampire. I can't do light!
I get pain in my neck then I smell fried onion does anyone else
Yes, I get neck pain. I also crave a chocolate candy bar (how odd). I have light sensitivity most all of the time. I keep my house dark and sometimes wear sunglasses inside.
Relpax works for me if I chew it first then wash it down with a red bull. It's not the fastest acting abortive but it's all I had today when I got hit out of nowhere with a random attack about an hour ago
Hey Lyndee, did your neurologist prescribe topamax or was it your GP? My partner suffers from CH but was only given sumatriptan tablets. Its not even touching the pain.
my neurologist prescribed it
Kari Liller - i also found it drove me nuts because the dr kept switching what location they worked out of and the scheduling people scheduled me with a few different people and the PA got mad at me for that ! There were also a few times i would see the PA and they would recommend a treatment and the next visit i would see the Dr and they wouldnt agree with what the PA told me.
I'm using a local neuro for a few months out of necessity but I normally go to DENT. I have mixed feelings as I feel like they have fallen short in the last year.
I had a very extended migraine. I kept feeling like they were stringing me along via phone. I finally found out my dr was leaving and I think that had a lot to do with it. The replacement and head of DENT were very disappointing. My PA is the best help I get.
I have gone to MI for help and would continue there if it wasn't such a distance. They make an effort to understand right up front. A full day OP visit.
In your area is there a place that you could go that charges on a sliding scale based on your income? Where I live (Green Bay, WI) there are a couple of clinics that do. Sending you positive vibes Stephanie and glad that you belong to this group where we can try to support one another!
I'm doing better today. I get screwed on anything with sliding scale bc i live with my fiance, who makes good $, but our finances are not joined as if we were married. Very long complicated stuff with all that, but ty for your concern. I am doing better today & am glad to have group support.
I'm looking into therapy through my county. I can't afford it either and that's with my insurance covering it. I can't cover $50 copays not with all my doctor visits and everything else. I don't know where your from Stephanie, but look into local resources. Go onto your local government/County webpage and see if you can find services that may be more affordable to you.
I'm been taking Botox for 2 years. I haven't had any problems when it works. If you have any type of sinus or cold then Botox doesn't work. Even with this I am still very pleased with Botox. Sometimes I will have minor headaches but they don't amount to nothing. One suggestion is while you go for your wellness check ask for trigger shots. That will help immensely. Hope this helps
I have injections in the back of my head,in my forehead, around my face and jaws
I've done two sessions so far…after the 1st one, literally nothing changed. Now after the 2nd, I wanna say there's some days where I'm not taking constant meds, like sometimes there will be 1 -2 day break.
But I did get a migraine after this last session, lasted about 5-6 days,
I'll have to ask Dr if Botox causes kinds/lengths/severities of Migraine that you've previously not had, cause that's a long one for me, & it was in a weird spot...
but I've had no other side effects besides that, if longer headache time is even a side effect.
She did tell me it sometimes takes around 3 sessions to see results.
There was a time I could brush my hair because my scalp was so tender.
I had purchased a pillow that had a hole in the middle but it wasn't helpful, I think it possibly put my neck in bad position
What do u do for your tight neck muscles? I get constant headaches from that. I don't feel well when I take muscle relaxers
How do you know it was the pancreas if you don't mind me asking? Could it have been the stress of being unwell, or dehydration from sickness etc?
Was told by the specialist. It's on the web too. Something to do with inability to break down enzymes so you end up with toxins. I can't be too specific as I'm dealing with a lot ay the moment healthwise, but I thought I'd say something
Ah right thanks, was just curious. Get well soon.
I have classic, complex, and clusters. Three weeks out of four usually. Can't make plans. Have had over 25 years but have gotten worse last 15. Tv ads that make it sound like Excedrine Migraine or Advil Migraine should fix you right up. Generic H/A with acetaminophen, aspirin, and caffeine will do that and much cheaper.
The disruption of my life. Pain, side effects, meds, post-drome, cancelling plans, not leaving my bedroom much less my house for days, … But we all know what that's like
I can't be productive
They are horrible things. So glad I found this group x
I've had migraines that last for a week on more than one occasion my doctor said they were cluster migraines. Was hardly out of bed for the whole week! I used to get an aura as soon as it starts I always take sumatriptan to try and prevent the full blown migraine
The same thing happened to me yesterday! I took eletriptan but still had the aura coming back and the worst migraine ever :(
Shaun, I really think something else is going too. Remember I had sinus surgery too (turbinate reduction, deviated septum repair and balloon sinuplasty to ethmoids and sphenoids. I had a long course of antibiotics and steroids. After all of that almost six months ago, I'm still having problems. I think there's something going on with the tempormandibular joint and the occipital region of the skull. This is multi-layered why it's so hard to figure out.
Hi, you might be right for some. How have you been since your op. In percentage terms how much improvement do you think you've made? The ENT surgeon I saw didn't recommend balloon sinoplasty, instead preferring to cut away tissue as he said it was much more effective in the long run.
Yes I'm getting the same symptoms: headache after bending down, straining, coughing. I've mentioned it to my doctor but nothing was done about it. Going back this week to ask for a CT or MRI. Please keep us posted on your progress xx
Fioricet is Awesome!
I'm on a birth control called seasonale. Insurance doesn't cover since a new one hit the market but it's been a life saver. I skip my period for 3 mos and usually I skip the sugar pills and don't get it at all. You may also want to get your hormones checked to see when your peaking with your estrogen and progesterone. You can take medication to level them out. I was on topomax and Botox after I had my son and couldn't BF either. Ask about the pill or hormone therapy.
Thats a long story.....my husband is out of work due to workmans comp. And we dont have insurance. So when he goes back i will.be able to go in march......
Been to doc X2 n er x1
Hang in there ladies. Some of my worst migraines can be assoc. With allergies. Or change in weather. Try a allergy with sinus headache OTC drug.
For me, hot showers help, as does ice to head and neck. Both seem to enable mucus to thin and drain more easy. Also menthol sweets, help open airways. Amirtryptyline 25mg tablet taken on a night. Shoulder and neck massage 2-3 times each week. Strong pain killers if I have a particular bad headache. Don't do this much though as don't want to become reliant on them.
Thank you Shaun Nicholson I will try anything. Thanks again for replying x
Also could I ask how bad did it affect your job etc at the beginning?
Take Vitamin D test
Take omega 3 supplementary
Daily drink lime juice
Avoid all grain food
Try for one month
Check your blood pressure! High pressure may create headach.
My pressure is fine. My body build is athletic, 180cm, 70kg. I check BP and Weight every time I'm at the clinic.
I've started taking Omega 3 + Epsom salt +Mutivitamin. I can't seem to get vit D3 only around here.
Well, I feel better especially with the aches. My head is not very clear yet but seem like improving
Xxxxxxx Yzzzzzz I think I asked. They gave me a script but at the time had only given them out for 6 people. They said it really helped I think 3, did nothing for 2, initiated migraines for me. It was probably 1 1/2 years ago but I think it might have said it may take up to two minutes to feel it and in my case in 12 seconds I was ready to level out the intensity. But the nerves in my head feel like they are exposed anyways. I contacted the Reed center and they said I might still be a candidate but I'm hesitant right now about that. Anyways you have a valid point, why don't they mention this. Less Meds would be great for all.
Xxxxxxx Yzzzzzz about 10 minutes long
Ainadi Marie ok. Thanks! Mine is tomorrow.
Larissa Brooks I was almost 5 months into a migraine and my new dr was patting me and doing squat. He did however write a glowing report about how much he did for me. My primary gave me a copy and I wanted to puke all over it!
This may sound odd but ley him know if any certain foods trigger for some reason mushrooms will trigger the worst migraine in me so bad I just say i am allergic to them. They will just take me down in about ten minutes. So pay attention to your food. I also had to keep a journal for my doc so he could see what was going
They are wicked bad anf and people think you are lying when you say you have one. Let them walk a day in your shoes
We are all here for you. Hang in something will come along and give you some relief
Be strong as you can
I haven't had any problems with food I noticed a lot of people saying that so I did start keeping track so far haven't noticed any changes, most of the time they occur at work usually either I haven't eaten or I wake up with one.
Thats good to know... I used to get along time ago and my dr said they dont make it anymore. I have a new Dr so i will ask for it
That's good because I have 2 refills on mine.
They are still manufacturing it according to my pharmacy. It may be listed under the generic name butalbital or another brand name, like esgic.
Yuck! I haven't seen the weather yet tonight but I'm sure there is more coming. Grrr I hate winter.
Slept most of the day. Excessive yawning is usually a sign for me. Or if I couldn't sleep the night before. Which I had a hard time last night.
I can see that. I haven't slept well for about a week. Neck and shoulder tension. :(
I used to get migraines really bad also I'm taking Botox I've been taking it now for about a year I still do get them but try taking some Benadryl and take magnesium and vitamin B as soon as you get a migraine just take them along with the relpax and I swear the um Benadryl does help you may need to take 2 it may make you a little drowsy but that's okay if you are home I have to work so I have no choice I seem to get them or around my menstrual time I hope you find some really I'm also one Topamax and nortriptyline but I take zomig for a my rescue medicine I found you need to change your diet to I work everyday I work like 40 50 hours a week so I'm pretty busy and I found that where I exercise into yogurt I feel a lot better and drink plenty of water if you can feel better soon I know how you feel that's horrible xxxx
Great news, keep us posted xxxxx
Thanks, will do <3
I trained to be a nurse in the 70s but had to give up because of migraines. I was ill every time I had a day off. The shifts especially night shift made them worse. The doctor said it was because I was a perfectionist and on a my day off I wound down and this would result in a migraine. I also found the hospital wasn't very sympathetic and I got into trouble for time off.
